Pastor Sonya is the founder and pastor of Word Center Church, Raleigh, North Carolina. Word Center Church has been founded on the principles of the Bible, and is focused on winning souls to the kingdom. The church focuses on hope, healing and restoration. For we believe that the body of Christ is in need of healing and recovery. Our desire is for the wounded to be mended so their journey will continue in a blessed way.
Over the past 20 years Pastor Sonya has preached the gospel and ministered to those wanting to experience God’s life changing power. Her special gift to the body of Christ is ministering to “hurting women” to ensure them that God is able to recover all.

The Anointing combined with her teaching/preaching background allows the Word to be brought forth as impacting and life changing. This Anointed Vessel has been used mightily by God as she ministers at Women Conferences, Convocations, First Lady’s Days, Workshops, Revivals and Seminars.
Pastor Sonya not only studies the Word but she lives the Word. In her presence you witness the Virtuous Woman of which the Bible speaks. She is loved and cherished by those who have experienced her caring spirit of compassion yet, tough love. If you don’t want to know the truth concerning your question, don’t ask Pastor Sonya because she will tell you like it is with love. She balances her personality with humor, and fun.
Pastor Sonya retired from IBM Incorporated after 34 years of service. However, she is continuing her administrative career with Grifols USA in the Bioscience area. She is a graduate of Broughton High School. Her undergraduate studies were at Kings Business College, University of Maryland University College and Southeastern Theological Seminary.
Pastor Sonya is married to Elder Tyries Walker, Sr. They are thoroughly enjoying their new chapter in life and walking with the Lord as He orders their steps.
Last, but certainly not least, Pastor Sonya receives joy from her calling – being the mother of her daughter and son-in-law, Dana & Joseph Stevenson, and ‘Mimi’ to little Londyn Aria and Joseph (Joey) Preston.
